Paint Codes

All paints on this page are in QUARTS unless otherwise noted. Also, when thinning paints, for most oils, use paint thinner unless the paint specifically calls for something else (such as Rust Oleum's satin requiring Acetone). For the most accurate finish, cabinet preparation is critical, sand the cabinet to at least 220 grit and be sure to fill holes and cracks (fresh paint on a lousy surface looks worse than leaving it alone in the first place!)

Donkey Kong Jr. Orange Paint codes from Lowes (color matched from a chip from a cabinet): Lowes Enterprise brand ceimi Gloss Enamel (oil based) 
                      First Tinting: 116-23.5 / 111-2Y9.5 / 113-14.5
                      Second Tinting: 113-30
Satin Black Satin Black is used on tons of different games, the product I like best is the 'Satin' line from Rust Oleum. This oil based paint comes in both spray cans and quarts. If you use the quart with a sprayer you will also need a touch of Acetone to thin it. For games that originally had Melamine sides like System 1, Tron (or just about any black game for that matter) this paint will give you a finish that is almost exactly like the original melamine.

Donkey Kong Blue Need to sample. 
                      No accurate color yet sampled.  
                      (Colors at appolo.com may work for you, 
                      but the blue is too dark and in the wrong hue)
Joust Brown Again here I use Semi Gloss oil based Enterprise paint from Lowes.. The actual paint name is from their Valspar line, but they can tint oils with the same codes.

Pac Man Yellow All I can say about Pac Man paint is DON'T USE SAFETY YELLOW :) Safety yellow is easily not a deep enough yellow to be a match, and it's overly expensive to boot. Try this instead: 
                    Krylon Sun Yellow spray paint (same paint can be mixed)
Robotron Blue Robotron colors come from Appolo.com, I post them here because I have verified the color against a real restoration I have done and confirmed the match.

From Lowes, the Valspar brand Brilliant Metals line.
 
   Chip: EE2065 Pewter Luster
 
This is a two step process where you paint a grey base coat and then a 
Metallic topcoat.   This match is very nice compared with straight grey 
or metalflake greys.
Q*Bert yellow ** UPDATED ** The most recent time I went to lowes to remix everything base wise had changed so I took my sample to Home Depot. The color matched to a mix named 'Slicker', which happens to match the one found on Appolo.com. Only difference was that I found it to be too 'yellow' and had some orange pigment added. It's a great match.
